Canadian Designers Embrace Materials Pavilion at IIDEX

For the third time this year, the Materials Pavilion proved to be one of the busiest spots at a design show. Visitors to GlobalShop, NeoCon, and now IIDEX agree: the Pavilion is the place to be!

IIDEX/NeoCon Canada, held 22-23 September in Toronto, hosted professional designers and design students from across Canada and the eastern US. Hundreds of them visited and lingered in the Material Intelligence Materials Pavilion, part of the show's "Think:MATERIAL" exhibit.

Traffic was heavy from open to close on both days of the show, thanks largely to the educational format of the Pavilions exhibits, and the unique opportunity to compare dozens of different materials without traveling to dozens of booths. One designer summed it up nicely: "It's about time somebody did this. This is great!"

Several experts from sponsoring companies were on hand to answer detailed questions from working designers and students from across Canada. And several designers and students attended  CEU presentation, "Sustainable, Cost-Effective Surfacing Solutions for Furniture and Interior Design,"

As part of the IIDEX Think:MATERIAL exhibit, the Material Intelligence Pavilion added an extra educational flair with tables designed by Facility One Inc. in Detroit.

Below, some images of the featured material samples to refresh your memory if you happened to be one of our guests at IIDEX, with links to more information on the materials and the suppliers. Please excuse the fingerprints...we encouraged many hundreds of hands to help themselves to our display!

See you soon,

Kenn Busch, Owner, Material Intelligence
