Laminates and decorative surfaces begin with a design concept, interpreted and executed by décor printers. These printed papers carry the design in HPL, TFM and paper-based foils. Similar technology is used to create the designs on 3-D laminates.
Decor printers work with artists to source raw materials (original art, veneer, stone) or fantasy concepts and adapt them to the aesthetic requirements required for the finished laminate application.
They also offer catalogs of “standard” patterns inspired by the latest design trends which can be specified as-is or custom colored.
In recent years laminate texture design, imparted by engraved press plates and textured release papers, has become far more realistic. Textures may even be engineered to be applied in register with the print design for enhanced realism. |
